POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Resource Development Specialist
REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This role provides leadership, organization and execution of special events, volunteer management and database management within the Resource Development department. The position will also provide assistance in other Resource Development needs as directed.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Special Events Coordination
- Planning, implementation and follow-up for 2-3 annual special events
- Manage all aspects of event committees and coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and acknowledgement.
- Work with Marketing on publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution and digital presence.
- Responsible for the development and fulfillment of the events budgets.
- Responsible for in-kind donation solicitations for each event.
- Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfillment.
Volunteer Management
- Establish and implement policies and procedures for volunteer recruitment, selection, training and participation in activities.
- Identify potential sources of volunteers and develop proactive strategies to recruit volunteers with the skills needed by Club programs and activities.
- Evaluate volunteer activities and participation on a regular basis and refining to ensure a high level of satisfaction by volunteers and staff.
- Steward volunteers by building relationships and ensuring that they are receiving adequate follow-up and care.
- Manage administrative and operational systems to support volunteer programs.
- Develop and implement regular orientation of volunteers. Provide training to Club staff on effective volunteer management.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other organizations supporting volunteerism.
Database Management
- Process gifts, pledges and other donations on a timely basis and ensure accuracy of information
- Work with Finance to reconcile donations to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions for financial reports
- Create and produce regular and ad-hoc reports for Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors
- Optimize database for fundraising mailing efforts; including merging, proofing and preparing donor acknowledgments
- Follow standard operating procedures for data entry reporting, ongoing data clean-up projects and other necessary tasks to ensure integrity of the database
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with stewardship implementation.
- Support Chief Development Officer with individual giving campaigns (peer-to-peer and year-end)
- Provides leadership in developing collaborative relationships with BGCA's corporate and cause partners
- Provide valuable input and strategic thinking to Resource Development overall goals
- Other duties as assigned to by Chief Development Officer or CEO.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 3 years of non-profit experience, preferably in Resource Development with a proven track record of special event planning and execution.
- Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g. Bloomerang, Raiser's Edge, DonorPerfect).
- Ability to organize projects and tasks efficiently, meet deadlines and perform an array of duties in a fluid environment, both independently and as a team member.
- Possess exceptional attention to detail as to ensure accuracy of reports.
- Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
SALARY/BENEFITS
- Full time exempt position
- Compensation range: $40,000-$45,000
