RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR


POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vergennes seeks highly motivated individuals to work directly with school aged youth (elementary and teens) in our afterschool program! 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vergennes is a premier youth development organization that actively seeks to enrich the lives of its Club members by ensuring access to quality programs, a safe environment, and positive experiences. 

The Resource Development Coordinator leads revenue-generating fundraising and development activities for the organization. The Development Coordinator cultivates and maintains positive relationships with current and potential donors and serves as a liaison with management staff throughout the organization. This individual has an immediate impact on the organization’s fundraising and development activities and messaging. The Development Coordinator works closely with the Board’s Resource Development Committee. This position occasionally requires work outside of normal business hours, and at locations that may be off-site. This position will have three core focuses: donor relations, fundraising events and activities, and grants.

JOB SUMMARY 

Under the supervision of the CEO or his/her designees, this position is responsible for researching, writing, submitting and tracking grant initiatives for the Club, including funding opportunities from private individuals, foundations and corporations as well as government agencies to increase operational funding base. 

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Research corporations and foundations and identifies opportunities for corporate sponsorships.
  • Writes foundation grants and increases amounts funded year-over-year.
  • Maintains professional and friendly relationships with foundation grantors and updates them on how their grant funds are being utilized throughout the year.
  • Obtains contacts for potential donors from Board members, makes telephone or in-person contact and introduces donors to the President and CEO.
  • Meets with each Board member prior to the end of each calendar year to determine individual Board member giving, additional fundraising activities, and ways in which the Board member will be an ambassador and advocate for the Center; these are consolidated into a plan for each Board member and shared with the Development Committee.
  • Utilizes Bloomerang/ Harness (CRM) to track donor cultivation and to ensure that the Center's donor history is properly maintained.
  • Contacts each past donor at least annually, and maintains an active list of potential donors who are in the various stages of being cultivated.
  • Creates consistent language and materials to be used by Board members and agency staff members for giving and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Collaborates with existing RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT partners to ensure consistent messaging is occurring that speaks to the Center's mission and branding.
  • Prepares a monthly updated list of all activities and distributes them to the President and CEO.
  • Sets, monitors, and achieves annual fundraising goals. 
  • Stays current on behavioral health trends and legislation that are likely to affect agency funding.
  • Plans and coordinates the Center's annual fundraising events.

Internal: Ability to address the agency ‘Why’ in writing materials

External: Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media networks. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The position requires moderate physical effort on a daily basis such as walking, bending, stooping and standing for periods of time.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Desired and/or Required:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment.
  • Able to articulate strategies for soliciting and cultivating gifts, sponsorships, and grant writing.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, online giving and donor management platforms (Bloomerang a plus).
  • Proven ability to speak and write in a concise and persuasive manner.
  • Able to use various databases to run reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sound and ethical fundraising principles.
  • A superior communicator who readily shares information concisely.
  • Articulate and personable, able to convey a positive image of the agency externally, and credible and reliable for staff internally.
  • Able to multitask and stay cool under pressure.
  • Must be mature and patient, demonstrate good judgment and integrity, and be persuasive and friendly.
  • Mandatory first aid and CPR certifications (within 6 months of hire).
  • Must pass a National Criminal background Check as a condition of employment.
  • Occasional travel expected.

POSITION STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt

LOCATIONS: Vergennes, Vermont 

HOURS: 15 hours per week; Hybrid position
