POSITION: Roadhouse Residential Counselor
PROGRAM: Roadhouse
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Roadhouse Coordinator
Summary of Position: A Residential Counselor promotes emotional stability for three residents with psychiatric and/or trauma disorders through friendly daily interactions and supportive counseling in a trauma-informed community setting.
Specific Duties and Requirements:
- Follow and implement established residential goals with all residents: meet objectives and goals in conjunction with the treatment team, accurate record keeping, share information with other agency clinicians as indicated, and assist the resident to access scheduling appointments.
- Role model and teach/support effective ADL skills including cooking, housekeeping, laundry, and personal hygiene.
- Assist residents to implement learned social skills in the community through engagement in various outings including shopping trips, walks and recreational activities.
- Crisis intervention as needed.
- Monitor and administer medications to residents.
- Provide house coverage including on-call asleep overnight, holidays and weekends. Flexibility is a must.
- Perform other duties as necessary
- Exemplifies strong work ethic and operates with highest level of integrity
- Ability to work with clients and their families in a residential-based setting
- Ability to provide recovery-oriented counseling/support
- Be well organized with attention to detail and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to establish partnerships and work cooperatively with a wide variety of people and organizations as part of a team
Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: B.A. in psychology or related field preferred.
Experience: Previous work with the psychiatric population is desirable.
