Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking multiple qualified Residential Assistants for a residential school located in Basking Ridge, NJ for the current 2023-2024 school year. Residential Assistants will provide direct care to emotionally disturbed boys 8 to 18 years old. This position will play a crucial role in helping each resident’s development as they provide counseling, supervision, behavior management, and physical plant management. There are two potential shifts available, one during after-school hours and overnight. Must be comfortable with physical restraining.
Hours/Schedule
• 2:30p.m. to 11p.m. (After-School)
• 10:30p.m. to 9a.m. (Overnight)
Responsibilities:
• Attend to resident’s physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Support at risk children by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans and/or behavioral plans
• Delivery of counseling, supervision, behavior management, and physical plant management.
• Assist as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team
• Act with team members to develop individual resident treatment plans which guide the counselor's interactions with each resident
• Conduct programs to address group behavior and needs
• Leading resident group meetings, coordinating recreation activities, and other group functions.
• Comfortable working in outside conditions in all types of weather
• Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License – not currently suspended or suspended over the last three years
• One year of experience working with youth in a behavioral health setting. Related experience will be working with youth in a similar age group
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in behavior management
• Experience with 1-1 care preferred
• Experience with children preferred
• Must have or be willing to get fingerprinted by the Board of Education.
Qualification Requirements
• High School Diploma (required); or
• An Associate’s (or higher) Degree; or
• Some completion of study at an institution of higher learning (preferred)
