Research Technician II

Tissue Repair

Full-Time

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with and provide support to other lab personnel including Research Technician/graduate student/postdocs to complete science-based projects.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Technical proficiency and ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
• Capable of meeting time demands necessary to execute experiments.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments.
• Keep inventory of and maintain animal colonies.
• Assist with maintenance of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols.
• Keep inventory of laboratory supplies, including controlled substances, and place laboratory orders.
• Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment.
• Completion of all trainings related to work in a timely manner, including C14, animal usage, handling hazardous material, and laboratory safety.
• Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties as assigned at the desired level of competency.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology or other relevant biomedical area

 Experience:

• Preference will be given to candidates with 2-4 years’ experience in related laboratory research
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior rodent handling experience
• Some experience with research methodology, statistics, and manuscript preparation
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Skills required:

• Good interpersonal skills, detail oriented and organized
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient use of computers and software
