Job Summary
This position will be the technical expert and primary operator of the tunable diode laser instrument for determination of stable isotope distribution in plant samples. This position will also be the technical expert on the Phenospex high throughput phenotyping facility in the RIPE greenhouse. In addition, the incumbent is expected to carry out independent scholarship with either or both of these state-of-art technologies.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and adapt the TDL instrument and conduct independent photosynthesis research using stable isotopes to measure aspects of mesophyll conductance, bundle sheath chloroplast leakiness in C4 plants and aspects of photorespiration.
  • Maintain and adapt the high throughput phenotyping facility to maximize its usefulness to the RIPE project and conduct independent
  • Communicate research progress and results to project team members and external stakeholders including publishing Publish peer reviewed publications to disseminate scientific findings as well presenting the results at scientific conferences and project meetings.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of project data and other materials.
  • Recruit, select, and academic hourly workers, and undergraduate students assisting with research activities including providing orientation and training, determining task assignments, managing performance, including evaluation and providing coaching and mentoring of independent study.

Additional Physical Demands
Work in a laboratory setting and conducting field trials.Minimum Qualifications
Education: PhD, Biology, Plant Science or other Biological SciencesExperience: Extensive knowledge of Required Bio-safety Training
Preferred Qualifications
Education:PhD, Photosynthesis, Plant Physiology/Biochemistry, Plant Biology or similar fields
Experience: In Radiation Safety Training and high throughput plant phenotype

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required: 1. Photosynthesis research and plant physiology.2. Biochemical and physiological phenotyping using gas exchange fluorescence, spectroscopy, and root phenotyping techniques.3. Photosynthetic gas exchange
  • Preferred: 1. Mathematical modeling of photosynthesis 2. High-throughput plant phenotyping3. Designing and conducting replicated greenhouse and field experiments. 4. Demonstrated success in publishing high-impact work in recognized peer-reviewed journals.5. Substantial post-doctoral experience in photosynthetic crop research.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-timeAcademic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expectedstart date is as soon as possible after the close date. The minimum salary forthis position is $55,000 and is commensurate with experience andqualifications.
