We are excited to add a Research Scientistto our R&D team! The role will be located at our Marietta, GA headquarters and will pay between $90,000 - $110,000 based on previous relevant experience and educational credentials.
SUMMARY:
The Research Scientist I will support the operation of the Research group. Candidate will be responsible for the design and execution of test methods, data analysis, interpretation of the data and apply some statistical techniques. Delegated tasks and procedures are expected to be completed independently in a thorough and timely manner and documented in a comprehensive report to communicate findings to senior research staff and possibly cross-functional teams. Candidate should possess a strong understanding of cellular and biochemistry principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs and executes scientific experiments which frequently utilize methods such as protein detection and quantification, enzymatic and other cell-based test methods, immunohistochemistry, microscopic image analyses, and biomaterials testing
- Analyze data using Microsoft Excel, GraphPad or other data analysis software
- Interprets findings and formulates scientific conclusions and additional research questions.
- Make this summarize data for internal reports, presentation at scientific conferences, and submission to scientific journal.
- Creates protocols and SOPs as required and generates reports including materials, test method description, and results.
- Performs guided literature reviews to efficiently identify relevant resources.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebook and other testing records, adhering to Company’s Good Documentation Practices.
- Monitors and maintains laboratory equipment, instruments as needed to support the work assigned, including interfacing with appropriate departments to coordinate and document maintenance activities.
- Maintains lab space in a clean and orderly manner in accordance with Company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Adheres to policies and practices from the Quality Management System based on Company standards.
- Understands and adheres to the Company’s standards regarding the protection of intellectual property, confidential/proprietary information and trade secrets.
- Interacts professionally and effectively with other team members.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- BS/BA in relevant discipline and 4+ year of experience in related field, or equivalent work experience
OR
- MS/MA/MBA in related field with 2+ year of experience in related field
OR
- PhD in relevant discipline
- Extensive experience in immunology field, including macrophage and T-cell biology or additional cell populations.
- Required experience with immune cell isolation and analysis by flow cytometry.
- Advanced laboratory technique experience (Flow Cytometry, PCR, Preclinical Studies and/or Bioinformatics).
- Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA extraction, protein extraction and expression analysis from tissues and cell lines.
- Demonstrated proficiency at MS Word, MS Excel and Windows-based operating systems.
- Good organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong oral, written and communication skills.
- Must have a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the research & development laboratories. Must be comfortable interacting at all levels within these functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work to be performed in the Company’s Marietta & Kennesaw, Georgia facilities and may include travel to satellite labs or partner/contract research facilities
- This position will have contact with biomaterials as well as chemicals used in the manufacture of products
- Training will be conducted on the handling and safety practices necessary for the use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and potential biohazards.
- Possible travel to present at Scientific Conferences and/or meet with collaborators and/or contract research labs several times a year.
- This position is laboratory based.
