About the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Hub at the Georgia Institute of Technology
At Georgia Tech, developments in AI span many disciplines with dozens of campus centers and institutes. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our algorithms team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a focus on AI technology. As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in conducting groundbreaking research, developing novel AI solutions, and contributing to the advancement of the field.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct cutting-edge R&D in various AI domains, including but not limited to machine (and deep) learning, generative AI and Large Language Models (LMMs), AI-optimized hardware, AI inference, reasoning, and decision making, speech processing, virtual (digital) assistants, natural language processing, and computer vision.

  • Develop and create innovative AI technologies that address real-world challenges.

  • Deploy AI solutions at collaborating companies and within the academic environment at Georgia Tech.

  • Generate AI intellectual property through innovative research and development.

  • Incubate new AI businesses and contribute to their growth and success.

  • Author and publish research papers in reputable conferences and journals to share findings with the broader research community.

Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an Open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook (https://www.policylibrary.gatech.edu/faculty-handbook/3.2.1-research-faculty-hiring-and-promotion-guidelines)

Research Scientist I

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area.

Research Scientist II

    A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or

    A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or

    A Doctoral degree.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more scientific publication submissions for conferences, journals, or public repositories.

  • 2 years of coding experience, demonstrating proficiency in implementing AI algorithms and solutions.

  • 1 year of experience owning and initiating research agendas, showcasing the ability to drive independent and impactful research projects.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent coding skills with experience in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java).

  • In-depth knowledge of AI concepts and methodologies.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas both verbally and in writing.

  • Proven ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary teams.
