ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Department of Mental Health Law and Policy (MHLP) is one of six departments/schools in the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) and department faculty are integral members of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI). The department promotes academic excellence by providing leadership and opportunities that enhance manpower development and personal growth in a fully engaged learner-centered environment. The mission of the department is to promote the health and quality of life of people with mental and substance use disorders by creating, evaluating, disseminating and translating state-of-the art knowledge to support effective practice across behavioral health
and criminal justice systems.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Project Manager position will report to Dr. Micah E. Johnson within the Johnson Lab at the University of South Florida, Department of Mental Health Law and Policy. The Research Project Manager duties and responsibilities include researching and creating
presentations, generating reports, monitoring benchmarks and milestones of grant-funded projects and trainees of Dr. Johnson’s lab, attending workshops, reviewing publications, supervising all Johnson Lab students and staff, and providing administrative support to
ensure efficient operation of Dr. Johnson’s projects. In addition, this position will support the Johnson Lab through various tasks related to organization and communication. The Research Project Manager will be responsible for confidential and time-sensitive materials and should be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the fields of substance misuse and addiction. The ability to effectively and professionally communicate via phone and email, ensuring that all duties are completed promptly and accurately and
delivered with high quality is expected. The Research Project Manager will be responsible for directing and leading the work of others. The Research Project Manager will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. An applicant who is dedicated and/or passionate about health disparities and social inequities is preferred. This position is 100% grant funded and continuation of the appointment is subject to continuation of funds.

Responsibilities:

Monitor benchmarks and milestones of multiple grant-funded projects; Direct and
lead the work of others in the lab; Provide administrative support to ensure
efficient operation of sponsored Research Projects, including purchasing lab
materials and making travel arrangements
Supervise all staff within the Johnson Lab, including OPS staff and graduate
students; Develop Johnson Lab staff and trainees by providing information,
educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities
Organize and schedule appointments and meetings; Maintain contact lists of Dr.
Johnson’s projects; Assist in the preparation and completion of regularly
scheduled reports
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops; Reviewing professional publications; Establishing personal networks;
Participating in professional societies
