Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Research Informatics Associates reporting into our Corporate Headquarters.  Do you have clinical research data and database analysis / reporting experience, and would you like to use those skills to further Shriners' mission of providing the best quality care for our pediatric patients and their families?  If so, this position may be for you!

 

The Research Informatics Associate is a specialized professional who participates in managing clinical Research Informatics across the Shriners Children's (SHC) organization. Reporting to the Research Data Manager, the Associate will act as a resource within SHC to capture, access, share, analyze and manage clinical and experimental information. In performing their duties, the Associate will be expected to assure proper study conduct, subject safety, and the accessibility and quality of clinical research data as well as maintain data safeguards. Additionally, the Associate will be responsible for maintenance of research information systems, working independently and with diverse teams to accomplish deliverables. The Associate will participate in the education of research staff pertaining to the research information systems at SHC.

Responsibilities

Content Management (quality/security) - 40%

  • Collaborate with lay users and technical experts to design and implement research database infrastructure and data science systems.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for technical, compliance and regulatory questions surrounding research data
  • Perform regular sponsor level electronic auditing of research data for the SHC system to ensure  compliance with protocol, departmental and institutional standards
  • Participate with SHC teams to provide data from established systems for research related activities
  • Collate and manage data, including but not limited to collection, aggregation, cleaning and analysis as needed by SHC study teams

 

Application Management - 40%

  • Manage and update systems (i.e., BOX, Qualtrics, and Crayon), technical controls, education and documentation for new and established research information systems
  • Respond to inquiries and provide support and expertise for informatics products for research personnel throughout the SHC system
  • Act as a point of contact for education of SHC staff about research information systems for new users and troubleshooting with established users
  • Involved in short and long-term planning for new data platforms and technologies to improve reliability, functionality and compliance with evolving standards

 

Communication and Teamwork - 20%

  • Create training materials and support for SHC research staff within the scope of clinical Research Informatics
  • Participate as a subject matter expert as an educator to information systems users
  • Serve as the chair of the SHC CREW Data Management committee, overseeing the regular functions of this working group and managing change controls for policy, process and practice for the organization.
Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • Experience with clinical research data collection, management and analysis
  • Proficiency in database analysis and reporting (SQL, MySQL or Oracle SQL)
  • Bachelor's Degree in IS or Science

 

Experience Preferred:

  • 3 years of research or IT experience
  • Experience or certification in clinical research (GCP, HSP, CCRP)
  • Experience in Python, R, Matlab or other technical programming language
