Arena BioWorks, located in Cambridge, MA, is a new biomedical research institute focused on uncovering the mechanisms of human disease to identify opportunities for therapeutic intervention. The Institute's private funding model allows Arena to advance novel therapeutics by forming and supporting biotech companies up to early clinical/ Series B stage.
ABW is seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to work on projects to develop and apply CRISPR-based gene editing technologies under the direction of Lead Translator J. Keith Joung. He/she should be a strong team player, clear communicator, enjoy scientific discovery and work effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment. This position requires a two year commitment and is particularly well suited for individuals interesting in pursuing graduate school or medical school.
Core Responsibilities
- Apply experience in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, and/or high-throughput assays to plan and carry out experiments
- Perform assays spanning a range of biochemical, molecular and/or cellular biological techniques
- Maintain clear and detailed electronic notebook
- Prepare written data reports and figures, and present research results to other team members
- Collaborate and communicate with other members of an interdisciplinary team
- Participate in research project development and present findings to larger team
- Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biological Engineering, or related disciplines
- Previous wet lab experience with proficiency in molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred
- Ability to learn quickly and independently carry out experiments
- Possess critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
