Research Associate I

Eitr currently has an opening for a Research Associate I (RAI) position. The RAI will be an integral part of the Research and Development team, whose primary focus is on identifying and characterizing therapeutic candidates.
Responsibilities

• Ability to independently carry out tasks and duties as assigned, generally with minimal oversight or supervision
• Maintains common lab supply stocks of buffers, reagents and other materials as needed
• Records experimental data and writes data summaries in digital lab notebook
• Prepare buffers, reagents, and other materials necessary for experiments
• Performs experiments including SDS-PAGE, UV/Vis Spectroscopy, and Western Blot
• Performs molecular biology experiments including cloning, PCR, and nucleic acid purification
• Properly stores and labels all samples
• General lab maintenance
• Performs internet searches to gather relevant information
• Contributes to drafting of technical reports, as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Basic Qualifications

• B.S. in a biology related discipline with 0-2 years of experience in an academic or industry setting
• Ability to calculate molar solutions for buffer preparation
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment (e.g., micropipette, pipetman, scales, etc.)
• Ability to follow written procedures/protocols precisely
• Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential, along with a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and collegiality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic or digital lab notebooks and data entry
• Knowledge of protein biochemistry
• Experience with DNA/RNA purification (e.g., Miniprep or Maxiprep)
• Experience with DNA primer design and PCR methodologies
• Able to perform experiments with good aseptic technique
• Experience working in a biosafety cabinet with mammalian cell culture
• Experience with protein chromatography (e.g., affinity or size-exclusion) and operation of an FPLC
• Experience with SDS-PAGE, Western Blot and spectrophotometric analysis

These activities may involve climbing ladders, stairs, step stools, or other structures. Candidates should be able to safely perform these tasks.
• Vision: Good vision is essential for tasks such as reading labels, observing specimens, and using microscopes. Corrected vision and color vision may be required for accurate analysis.

Compensation
Eitr reasonably expects the annual base compensation for this role to be between $52,000 and $61,000. Specific offer details are determined by carefully considering a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, education, market demands, and internal parity.
