Cordis Corporation, designs, manufactures, and commercializes medical devices uses to treat coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease. Examples of such devices include systems for gaining access to the vasculature, angioplasty balloon catheters, stents and stent delivery systems, and vascular closure devices. As an R&D Engineering Intern you will assist engineers in the design, development, and testing of Cardiovascular Medical Devices. Engineers at Cordis work to solve complex problems to ensure devices meet user needs, and that they are safe and effective for their indicated uses.
Responsibilities- Assisting engineering team on the creation of test methods to verify device performance and safety.
- Execution of engineering testing under supervision of R&D engineers.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to solve engineering problems.
- Work with design engineers to define user requirements and to translate requirements into engineering specifications.
- Write reports which document the outcome of verification and validation testing conducted on medical devices.
- Work on improving existing test methods and on the creation of new testing systems.
- Assists engineers on data analysis and on root cause investigations.
- Support coordination and execution of usability studies conducted in testing labs with participating physicians.
- Bachelor's degree in Business / Marketing / Communications, or currently enrolled in an undergrad program at an accredited university.
- Fluent in MS office (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Spreadsheet operations and data analysis capability with completed coursework on statistics.
- Prior internships in medical devices companies would be considered an additional asset.
