- This professional possesses fair and unbiased judgment, assisting with monitoring areas of risk through random and targeted audits or the following areas: professional, clinic, external vendor, coder, system, denial, and other audits as directed by the HIM Data Quality Manager. This position will provide continued monitoring of high risk areas identified through audits. They will assist with developing/updating department processes, guidelines, and standards in adherence to regulatory changes and organizational and compliance laws and regulations. This position should have exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written form.
- This position is an HIM Professional working under the guidance and supervision of the HIM Data Quality Manager, and is employed by Mosaic Life Care.
- Assists in reviewing a wide variety of HIM policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, accreditation, and organizational standards. Assists in identifying gaps.
- Researches and acts as a resource to coders, providers, and others to answer complex questions.
- Provides continued monitoring of improvement progress to identified issues of provider documentation, coding, and or system, after education has been provided.
- Executes risk assessments to identify areas for improvement. Works with Manager to prioritize issues of risk assessments based on level of the organization exposure.
- Performs quality audit and continued monitoring for improvement progress for CDI caregivers, from identified issues after education has been provided.
- Serves as a coding resources to coders, clinics staff, and providers.
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate's Degree in healthcare-related discipline preferred
- 3 Years with Coding/billing experience preferred in health care industry, with specific experience typically obtained as a coder, consultant, and/or auditor preferred. Prior experience performing coding audits or experience working with providers and caregivers to correct coding and documentation issues with demonstrated success preferred.
