RELEASE TRAIN ENGINEER

LOCATION: Springfield, VA

CLEARANCE LEVEL: TS/SCI w/CI Poly

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The candidate will support SAFe methodology across numerous Product Lines
• The candidate will support 10+ Scrum Teams in delivering their committed work in an iterative development environment
• The candidate will develop, maintain, and foster adoption of documented team processes to assist Scrum Masters, Product Owners, developers, and engineers in adherence to cadence and integration within Release Train.
• The candidate will perform routine and ah hoc support to Product Owners, Scrum Teams, technical leadership, developers and engineering
• The candidate will be responsible for updating documentation and Standard Operating Procedures as required
• The candidate will be responsible for coordination, planning, facilitation, and participation in all Release Train activities
• The candidate will assist teams in creating work structures to align with Enterprise Requirements Management and DevSecOps constructs
• The candidate will participate in Customer meetings, including daily integration meetings with the scrum teams
• The candidate will be responsible for detailed event planning and coordination and follow-through
• Candidate will also serve as the Scrum Master for the Engineering team while also performing the RTE role
• This candidate will also have the communications and interpersonal skills to interact across the contractor and customer teams
• This candidate will also have the communications and interpersonal skills to adjust to changing requirements and direction quickly and effectively, while promoting change across entire team
• This candidate will serve as a mentor, teacher, and leader across multiple operations and maintenance pursuits and programs to provide lift to the entire team
• They will bring their years of community knowledge and experience to serve as the focal point for customer interactions because they know how to listen and communicate with our customer

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Working knowledge of SAFe or Agile methodologies
• Familiarity with DevSecOps
• Self-starter with little need for oversight
• Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience for classified systems
• Thorough understanding of the Systems Engineer lifecycle and change management process
• Team player - comfortable remaining flexible in integrating multiple perspectives
• Leadership – ability to lead teams and projects to reach business goals
• Time Management – effective use of time based on business needs
• Decision Making – can work independently to make decisions, as well as collaborate with peers in to gain consensus
• Comfortable identifying and escalating issues to upper management as appropriate
• Process-oriented - committed to process improvement (and documentation) at all levels
• Communication Proficiency – executive command of business writing and etiquette
• Organizational Skills – can balance multiple (often competing) priorities in a results-driven approach
• Context – ability to visualize the big picture and lead integrated projects to desired outcome
• Effective use of computer and business software tools
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels of management, individual contributors and the customer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree (typically STEM focused - Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
• Working knowledge of agile project management tools such as Atlassian, GitLab, other.
