Job Description – Relay Technician
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site commissioning, maintenance, retrofits, start-up and troubleshooting of protection and control systems for Utility and industrial facilities.
- Perform development and execution of test protocols and procedures for protection & control systems.
- Complete factory acceptance testing of protection panels.
- Assist with development of standard procedures for protection & control system commissioning and maintenance.
- Complete as-built drawings for field installations, as part of turnover packages
- Coordinate testing activities with owner/utility
- Complete SCADA/RTU verification
- Review field test results for accuracy and provide input on test results
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of medium and high voltage power systems, with a primary focus on protection and control
- Knowledge of substation general design, setup, and components
- Experience with SEL relays
- Experience with Doble f6150e, Omicron CMC-356, Enoserv RTS
- Experience with GE, ABB, and Siemens relays
- Good safety record and understanding of electrical and construction safety standards
- Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Interaction with clients, customers, contractors, and others
- Ability to work both independently and part of a team to accomplish a common goal
Qualifications and Experience
- 0-5 Years’ experience of directly related experience.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is considered an asset
- PE License or ability to obtain a PE license is considered an asset
- Must be able to legally work in the US
- Ability to travel, on average, 85% of the time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
