Job Summary

Developsand implements rate cases and other major filings, revenue requirements, and other regulatory filings to achieve CenterPoint Energy's (CNP's) strategies, goals and objectives. Supports the development of potential capital investment plan filings in Indiana and Ohio. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains positive relationships with regulatory bodies. CenterPoint Energy serves multiple jurisdictions for-natural gas distribution, the transmission and distribution electric area in Houston and fully integrated electric business in southwest Indiana. Qualified candidate must show a general understanding of the natural gas utility business.

Essential Functions

  • Managesthe development and processing of general rate cases and major filings that support CNP's corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Supports and manages the capital investment plan filings for Indiana and Ohio.
  • Evaluates revenue requirements and recommends to senior and regional management the timing of general rate cases and major filings.
  • Manages the planning and preparation of miscellaneous compliance filings, including rulemakings review and analysis, and maintains CenterPoint Energy's compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provides advice, counsel and consultation on matters within area of responsibility that directly or indirectly impact CNP or its business environment.
  • Acts as a spokesperson for CNP on rate and regulatory issues before regulatory bodies and legislatures, and others.
  • Directs, develops and supports assigned employees in the performance of their essential duties and responsibilities.

Education Description

  • Bachelor'sdegree required; post-graduate degree (e.g., MBA or JD) from an accredited college or university is preferred

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of eight (8) years experience in rates and regulatory matters or similar experience to natural gas operations.
  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years experience in at least two of the following:

    • Creating and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies
    • Legal, rates, operations, engineering and/or accounting experience in the energy industry
    • Rate and/or regulatory submissions
    • Direct interaction with regulatory authorities
    • Compliance report development and filing
