the job:
we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is highly organized and proactive with at least 5-10 years regulatory experience in personal care (haircare preferred). A s the Regulatory and Compliance Director, you will lead the team to ensure all amika/Eva-NYC products are compliant and remain compliant to US and international regulations and anticipate/communicate future changes.
location: hy brid; in-office/work from home schedule.
salary: $100,000 - $120,000 + bonus and benefits
what you'll do:
- Keep up to date, identify and internally communicate to ensure all products are compliant and remain compliant to all US and international regulations and anticipate/communicate future changes.
- Lead all compliance-related Raw Material, Formula, Copy, and Artwork review and updates.
- Support Sephora Clean, Sephora Clean Plus and Conscious Beauty considerations initiatives from regulatory aspect.
- Oversee annual Leaping Bunny registration for both HMS brands.
- Lead product safety testing, per HMS protocol, for new formulations - 1,4 Dioxane, Benzene, Challenge, Heavy Metals, etc.
- Act as point person and support country registration for HMS products entering global markets.
- Lead third party registrations and certifications, including Vegan, Non-GMO, EU/UK/CAN notification, for HMS formulas.
- Support SOP creation to help optimize regulatory function within HMS.
- Manage and maintain complete product dossiers for existing and new amika formulas.
- Initiate and setup 3rd part testing for both clinical and analytical testing pertaining to the formulas or claim substantiation.
- Review test reports and advise brand of approved results and claim verbiage (after approval from legal + VP).
- Ensure all product claims are substantiated.
- Maintain and update New Ingredient Spreadsheet, a formulation reference for existing and new HMS formulas.
- Advise on product ILs and product questions for amika formulas.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure amika products are launched safely and with minimal risk.
- Support HMS' sustainability initiatives.
- Communicate directly and maintain good relationships with all of HMS' contract manufacturers.
- Working knowledge of evolving regulatory environment including California regulatory considerations.
- Manage direct report(s).
must-haves:
- 5-10 years experience in Regulatory and Compliance within personal care.
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative and proactive environment; partnering with legal, RD/PD, brand marketing, ESG leadership.
- Highly organized, proactive and detail oriented.
- Ability to use planning technology including Asana (critical in the workflow).
