Regulatory Analyst
Summary of position: The North American Securities Administrators Association, Inc. (NASAA), a prominent Washington D.C. association devoted to supporting the work of state and provincial securities regulators, is seeking to hire a Regulatory Analyst to support the Technology Product Manager in the management and growth of the Electronic Filing Depository (EFD) system. This individual will be a member of the of NASAA’s Corporate Office EFD Team and work closely with state securities regulators, industry users, and the system’s software developer (a third-party vendor). This position reports to NASAA’s Technology Product Manager.
The ideal candidate will have professional familiarity with the state securities regulation landscape, passion for technology, curiosity, ability to explain complex concepts to non-subject matter experts, and an interest in developing tools to improve regulatory processes for all those involved. The position is based in NASAA’s Washington, D.C. office which currently maintains a hybrid work schedule providing employees with up to three days of remote work per week. The responsibilities of the Regulatory Analyst will include the following:
- Gain a functional understanding of key regulatory requirements of participating jurisdictions (US States and Territories) in order to communicate those requirements to non-regulators.
- Manage and lead critical support escalations, which may involve close interaction with the software vendor, state regulators, and industry users.
- Working with stakeholders, resolve technical support issues and communicate solutions.
- Collaborate with the NASAA EFD Team, software vendor, regulators, and industry users to properly define and scope new functionality.
- Maintain critical documentation to support EFD, including contact lists, system settings, and public facing resources both for ongoing system operations as well as for regular audits.
- Regularly test and confirm changes to the EFD system. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the Regulatory Analyst:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience related to preparing, reviewing, or filing regulatory materials.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to continually prioritize tasks appropriately.
