Position Summary
Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for planning, directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge. The Registered Nurse is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff, precept students, and assume relief charge nurse duty as oriented and assigned.
The Perioperative Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct nursing care to all patient populations in OPSC during hours on duty. The Perioperative Registered Nurse possesses skills and knowledge to competently provide appropriate nursing care within the OPSC care areas of Admitting, PACU, and/or Endoscopy. Duties include, but will not be limited to, conducting pre-procedure interviews, preparing patients for surgery and procedures, assisting in endoscopy procedures, reprocessing GI scopes, and recovering post-procedure patients. Must be able to take call per hospital guidelines.
Experience:
At least three years medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital or multispecialty Outpatient Surgery center is required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
State of CA RN license required. Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required. ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained prior to completion orientation and independent assignment.
