PeaceHealth is seeking an RN - ICU for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Day or Variable position.
This position is responsible for providing professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team.
Details of the Position:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
- Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Ketchikan is a 25-bed acute care critical access hospital. ICU is a 4 bed unit. They typically staff with 2 RNs a shift. All critical drips, vents, bipap and hi flow in ICU. Sometimes med surg patients are overflowed in ICU. No pediatric intensive care patients. The ICU RNs do float to med surg. Med surg RNs typically get 4 patients. Med surg can have patient populations from peds to geriatrics. Med surg has 2 behavior health rooms. The unit can take about 16-18 patients. ICU Covid patients can be on med surg with an ICU RN. The rooms are equipped to care for ICU patients with central monitoring.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
Skills and Certifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required at date of hire.
- BSN preferred
- CCRN preferred
- ICU experience strongly preferred
- A minimum of 1 year of acute RN experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development
- Current Alaska Registered Nurse licensure
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire
- ACLS required at date of hire
- PALS required within 6 months of hire
- Telemetry required within 90 days of hire
- 12 Lead EKG Basics required within 12 months of hire
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment
- Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures
