Primary Scheduled Hours: 80 hours per pay period, Exempt Position
Job Summary: Responsible for direction and leadership of patient care in the Emergency Department setting. Consults and collaborates with staff, physicians, and Nurse Executive on delivering excellence in nursing care through application of policies and procedures. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department by identifying service issues and participating in CQI activities. Assists Accounting in formulating Annual Department budget. Manages nursing services on a 24-hour basis for a group of clinical services. Develops and supports annual nursing competency curriculum in conjunction with the CNE and ensures nurses obtain and maintain necessary training for maintenance of licensure. Responsibility typically includes developing or contributing to annual operation budget and monitoring expenses within prescribed parameters. Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the planning, supervising, and evaluating of the clinical care given to every patient that presents to the facility. Ensures comprehensive and continuous care for patients and in the Emergency Department. Responsible for the management and direct supervision of direct patient care givers in the Emergency Department. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities. Works to maintain a positive and growth minded atmosphere that supports individual growth and delivery of the best nursing care possible.

Education Background and Experience
Minimum Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
Required Licensure / Certifications:
- Active WA State or Multi-state compact RN license with the authority to work in WA State.
- *BLS * PALS certification *ACLS certification
Required Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of Managerial experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience as a RN in ER, Acute Care, Surgical, Labor & Delivery setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters preferred.

- Implementing care policies and procedures
- Scheduling nursing staff to ensure adequate nursing care is available to all patients.
- Managing department budgets.
- Overseeing daily operations of the nursing staff.
- Maintains nursing staff by coaching, counseling, and disciplining through monitoring and appraising nurses job performance.
- Interviewing and hiring staff.
- Conduct performance reviews on each staff.
- Enforcing Health and safety regulations are followed.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
- Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($108,721.60 - $128,068.49/annually) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
