This position is responsible for providing management and oversight of daily Nursing activities to a Nursing Department. The Manager works in partnership with Nursing leadership and other facility management and departments to ensure the provision of optimal patient care, attainment of financial goals, and development of leaders.

Our absolutely state-of-the-art OR boasts 21 surgical suites, with 2 designated for CV cases and 2 designated as hybrid rooms. Our Main OR specialties include: Bariatric, Robotics, General Surgery, Ortho, Neuro, OB-GYN and CV, including open heart cases.

Your day.
As an OR RN Clinical Manager you need to know how to:
  • Manage operations of 24-hour departments. Manage licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned
  • Establish, implement, and maintain patient care and service standards. Act as practice change champion
  • Manage daily staffing and productivity. Promote department sustainability and cost containment efforts to achieve budget. Assist director with development of annual budget, equipment needs and forecasts, and capital planning

  • Oversee and develop standards of care and standards of practice, directs fiscal management, and quality improvement activities
  • Manage licensed and non-licensed associates in the provision of care to patients in the assigned unit/department. Evaluate associate performance and provide timely feedback and opportunities for improvement. Partner with human resources business partner to address associate relations and disciplinary issues
  • Utilize feedback and data from annual survey to improve associate and physician engagement. Create an environment conducive to professional staff growth to promote recruitment, retention, and quality patient care
  • Align service goals and objectives to support department and hospital strategies. Proactively develop quality indicators and quality improvements for service line/ department. Incorporate department protocols for specific patient populations in planning practice and documentation. Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care
  • Act as an extension of the Director by performing selected leadership duties as delegated by the Director

  • Develop and monitor budgets for the appropriate use of human and material resources. Monitor financial performance and identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service
  • Determine the appropriate staff mix for department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff. Ensure on going staff development. Manage and resolve human resource, employee and department safety, and risk management issues
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policy and procedures which support the organizations goals and business objectives and ensure they are met.

Your experience.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing, required
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice, required

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire with prior approval, required (ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical RN experience, required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in progressive RN leadership positions, required

Physical Requirements:
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
