Registered Nurse 3- Infection Prevention (RN3)
Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC)
Connell, WA

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse 3- Infection Prevention (RN3) for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center located in Connell, WA.
The Infection Prevention Nurse/Registered Nurse 3 directly oversees the facility Infection Control and Prevention Program. The Infection Prevention Nurse helps to develop, maintain, and evaluate this program, by supporting, educating and directing staff.

Current shift available:
  • Monday- Friday 0800- 1630

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care.
  • Extended Observations unit up to 96 hr. stay (4 beds)
  • Long term palliative care unit
  • See up to 2500 patients with different chronic disease ( diabetes, hypertension, cancer, autoimmune disorders and much more)

  • Assist in the care and management of patients with communicable diseases.
  • Monitor and enforce Infection Prevention & Control.
  • Oversee the practice of all MAs, CNAs, LPN2s, LPN4s, and RN2s under this position's supervision.
  • Collaborate with all agency divisions to support infection control and prevention.


Required Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Two years experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Training in infection control and prevention.
  • Initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proficient using computer based programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel, to schedule, monitor and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, and communicate via email, as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.
  • Certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and Basic First Aid.
  • Maintain professional work relationships with staff, the public, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to research, accumulate, organize, and communicate technical information both orally, in writing, in person, and using technologies such as telephone, electronic mail, and computer equipment.
  • Demonstrable skill in data collection, data management using Excel or Access, data analyzing and presentation of data to groups and individuals.
  • Successfully complete required mandatory training, such as DOC Annual In-service, Suicide Prevention, Emergency Response, etc.
  • Certification as an Infection Prevention Specialist or at least 2 years clinical experience in HIV/Viral Hepatitis/sexual transmitted infection/TB program management, Infection Prevention, and/or outbreak investigation.
  • Will attend or complete on-line training in infection control and prevention as deemed necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a correctional facility or public health.
  • Certification as a Correctional Health Professional with NCCHC (National Commission on
  • Correctional Healthcare) Experience in patient case management

  • Requires respirator medical evaluation questionnaire, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the WA Industrial Safety & Act standards. Refer to WAC 296-842 to learn more.
  • Must be able to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds. Under rare circumstances this position may be required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.
