Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes dental health through prophylaxis, cancer screening, and radiographic studies.
- Charts decay and disease conditions and complies with Dental Practice Act.
- Prepares treatment room according to protocols and procedures.
- Welcomes, soothes, seats, and drapes patients for dental hygiene treatment.
- Answers questions and requests from patients and employees.
- Maintains dental instruments through sharpening, sterilizing, and selection.
- Evaluates patient's oral health to select materials and equipment for hygiene visit.
- Cleans deposits and stains from teeth and below gum margins during prophylaxis.
- Detects disease through oral cancer screening and examination of gums.
- Helps dentists during emergencies with CPR certification, emergency drugs, and oxygen supply.
- Educates patients on oral hygiene and provides postoperative instructions, reminders for next visit.
- Documents vital signs, medical and dental histories in patient records.
- Maintains confidentiality and creates a safe and clean working environment.
- Adheres to infection-control policies and protects patients and employees.
- Manages dental supplies inventory and conserves resources.
- Uses equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job.
Required Qualifications:
- Active IL Hygiene License
