Title: Regional Sales Manager - Midwest Region
Normal Work Location: Remote
Normal Working Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm / Monday - Friday / As Needed

Position Summary
Manage and direct all sales and marketing activities within assigned region. Coordinate with the Vice President of Sales on the development of sales and team goals, distribution management, market segmentations and analysis, and market trends affecting the ability to compete regionally. Provide direction and support to field Sales Engineers and Manufacturing Representatives. Advise on matters such as effective use of resources and methods in support of continual improvement in support of Scanlon Principles and AIM corporate objectives, departmental objectives, and target actions.
Midwest Region: Ohio; West Virginia; Kentucky; Indiana; Illinois; Michigan; Wisconsin; Iowa; Minnesota; North Dakota; South Dakota; and Nebraska.
Essential Job Functions
  • Research customer needs; develop application of products and services in an effective manner by determining market strategies & goals for each product and service in support of the annual business plan and forecast.
  • Evaluate and approve product & service marketability requests to grow sales and increase KSPT brand awareness while performing within guidelines and budget constraints.
  • Meet or exceed yearly sales plan goals and objectives by following up on sales leads and developing leads.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner by developing and implementing solutions to problems as they arise.
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rate.
  • Prepare Regional Sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Direct product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from product line.
  • Direct channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales regions, quotas, and goals.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of activities, industry trends, government regulations and technical developments that effect target markets.
  • Provide feedback to the marketing team market intelligence with regards to product enhancements and expansion developments.
  • Create and foster the development of a professional team atmosphere through coaching the sales team regionally.
  • Meet with key clients, assist Sales Engineers and IMRs with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Advise distributors and sales team concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  • Develop professional relationships with the functional business units of the enterprise.
  • Implement and encourage the use of all sales tools and resources available to field sales associates.
  • Conduct performance and competency reviews with Regional Sales team; asses needs accordingly.
  • Provide input to product database with product specifications, promotional materials and catalog items for T&E, co-op advertising, professional services and catalogs programs.
  • Attend trade shows and various industry conferences both educational and customer oriented.
  • Adhere to KSPT policies, processes and procedures.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Report market trends in applications of cutting tools to the respective Vice President.

Marginal / Less Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in new product development as needed.
  • Attend assigned industry trade shows.
  • Assist the Vice President in budget planning, distribution selection, and forecasting.
  • Assume responsibility for own training/developmental needs and completion of training plan.
  • Represent the Sales and Marketing departments in group meetings as needed.

Educational Requirements
  • BS/BA in management or related field with minimum five (5) years in industrial sales with focus on selling large national industrial distributors, or, equivalent experience.
  • Experience in industrial promotional activities, merchandising, and management is desirable.

Training & Experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Three (3) years' previous experience with EDI, supply chain, internet, and other communication channels.
  • Analyze, forecast, and prepare budget within given constraints.
  • Proficient with Word processing software with database, PowerPoint applications and Excel spreadsheet software and CRM.

License Required: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet requirements set by KSPT insurance carrier.
Visual Acuity: Must be able to read mechanical/tool drawings, precision measuring instruments and computer screens with or without accommodation.
Hearing Ability: Ability to meet the minimum essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment utilizing personal computer, phone and related office equipment. Regularly required to walk, sit or stand. Constant use of upper extremities. Infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent visits to various manufacturing facilities with exposure to hazards of automated machinery, noise, dust, oils, moving equipment, etc. Extensive travel is required.
Additional Comments
  • Field Sales Engineers and IMRs have a direct reporting responsibility to this position.
  • Associate is required to follow other job-related duties, subject to all local, state, and federal laws and applicable regulations.
  • The associate must successfully perform all requirements of the position training plan.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Wage Range: Commensurate with experience
