Reading Rock, a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of industry leading commercial and residential Building Materials and services for over 75 years, has an immediate need for a Regional Sales Manager in our Central Ohio Market. While leading our talented sales team and partnering with our General Operations Manager, this position will be accountable for achieving sales and business development in Central Ohio and upholding Reading Rock’s Operational Excellence to our customers.

How You Will Make an Impact
Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensures the Industry’s Best Customer Experience within the sales team by ensuring alignment with the company’s Purpose, Mission, Strategy and ROCKS Core Values.
  • Thoroughly communicates with the external customers and internal customers - managing the local Sales and Operations Team.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of sales strategies to increase market penetration of our 4 core product groups: Site Solutions (pavers & retaining walls), Commercial/Residential Building Materials (brick, block, fireplaces & stone), Rebar/Chemicals/Coatings and RockCast (architectural cast stone).
  • Sets strategic initiatives for growth from new products, territory, and services expansion.
  • Manages Sales Team to KPI’s, dashboards and focused customer targets.
  • Manages project tracking initiatives in the space.
  • Acts as a working manager with key accounts as needed.
  • Ensures safety compliance within company protocol.
  • Maintains dashboards related to weekly and monthly sales benchmarks.
  • Develops and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Prepares status reports and regularly monitors budgets, contractors and schedules, records, and electronic database of all elements of the projects, including transportation impacts.
  • Works to create a show room and product mix to excite and attract the customer base. Research and create a target list for business development associates.
  • Other jobs and duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Utilize skills in technical, process discipline, customer service, purchasing, and coordination.
  • Prepares and distributes a description and timeline of the project. Coordinates project review meetings to document the special-order process.
  • Reads drawings, understands take-offs (square footage, shape drawings, units of measure, etc.) standards. Communicates customer requirements and product specifications to be delivered.
  • Coordinates the product ordering process and delivery, oversees, and coordinates the technical aspects.
  • Prepares status reports and regularly monitors budgets, contractors and schedules, records, and electronic database of all elements of the projects, including transportation impacts.
  • Designates between stock vs. special order product. Maximizes inventory turns based on product availability with Operation Manager.
  • Reviews project plans and proposals, then works with management to develop objectives. Identifies responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project. Calculates time frames and sequences the stages of the project. Incorporates this data to work with sales and customers to ensure on-time delivery based on the project scope.
  • Leads in day-to-day HR functions of the staff, including onboarding, hiring and accountability.
  • Other jobs and duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in leading outside and inside sales teams is required, specifically within the Building Materials or construction industries.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with architectural designers, professional builders, general contractors, and homeowners.
  • Demonstrated ability to take personal accountability to create and execute strategic plans and sales goals without supervision.
  • Ability to represent the corporation with integrity and professionalism in all business matters.
  • Proficiency in understanding product technical requirements and drawings, including square footage and units of measure.
  • Proficiency in understanding financial analytics including customer markets, P&L’s, manufacturing and material costs, and pricing strategies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% in Central Ohio with minimal overnight stays.
