Regional Manager Position Description - Hybrid

Children in Placement (CIP) is a statewide advocacy organization. CIP recruits, trains, assigns, and supervises volunteer court advocates. These volunteer court advocates represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in Connecticut’s juvenile and probate courts.

Supervision

The Regional Manager will be responsible to the Executive Director of Children in Placement or his/her designee.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in social service-related field or 3 years’ experience in volunteer coordination and/or social services, or equivalent demonstrated ability.

2. Ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles.

3. Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect.

4. Excellent writing skills.

5. Basic knowledge of computers, word processing and social media.

6. Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Duties

A. Volunteer Training

a. Complete 40-hour GAL pre-service training.

b. Assist with volunteer recruitment. As part of this responsibility, accept and solicit speaking engagements and other opportunities to promote the efforts of the program.

c. Screen and interview prospective volunteers.

d. Assist in the scheduling and coordination of training, and participate as a presenter during pre-service trainings.

B. Case Management

a. Coordinate, document, and channel all GAL requests until resolution.

b. Match GAL case with appropriate volunteer.

c. Provide close management of GAL volunteer cases, and consult with volunteers regarding problems or concerns.

d. Attend case conferences and court hearings as appropriate.

e. Supervise preparation of reports for judge, and other parties as appropriate.

f. Maintain a calendaring system to facilitate the timely submission of plans and reports.

g. Keep accurate statistics, recording demographic and historical data, reasons for petition filing, age of children at filing and data on progress through the court system.

C. Volunteer Supervision

a. Maintain monthly contact with each active GAL volunteer in caseload.

b. Provide volunteers with close supervision, direction, assistance and consultation.

c. Schedule, coordinate and attend ongoing in-service programs quarterly.

d. Keep a copy of volunteer’s GAL application, confidentiality form, and in-service dates.

e. Consult with appropriate staff regarding client needs and volunteer assignments.

D. Program Activities

a. Complete professional development trainings on a quarterly basis.

b. Attend staff meetings.

c. Assist in public awareness and education about child abuse issues and the GAL program. Assist in volunteer appreciation events.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
