Position Overview:

The Regional General Manager (RGM) formulates, implements, and executes the sales and operations strategy to grow overall revenue, market share, and profitability of the rental business, with an emphasis on coaching his/her team to maximize individual and regional potentials. Responsible for the development and execution of the company strategy with respect to branch and regional rental operations.

Principal Duties:

  • Achieve rental revenue and profit targets while building a sustainable sales and service organization.
  • Lead and enable the regional sales and operations teams to achieve strategic goals with respect to revenue generation, profit attainment, and market share through utilization of an effective management process.
  • Maximize contribution margin by developing optimized pricing, inclusive of all products and related services, based on business objectives and competitive factors.
  • Establish, develop, and expand senior level relationships with Key and Target accounts. Establish an account management focus within the organization and grow top accounts with personal involvement and management.
  • Conduct monthly one on one sessions with all RSDs and RSMs, reviewing established annual sales plans/bridges, pipeline, forecasting, activity plans, account management, operations, profitability, safety, and personal development goals. Monthly action items to be documented and reviewed in subsequent meetings.
  • Recommend sales and operations incentive plans.
  • Closely collaborate with the Regional Finance teams to optimize all direct service and sales support costs while maximizing rental customer experience and profitability.
  • Stay current on market intelligence and develop relationships within the industry to increase external awareness of the competitive landscape. Analyze and respond to emerging trends as the strategy to drive revenue and market share is implemented.
  • Participate in local/regional industry trade associations such as ARA, BOMA, MCA, AGC, etc. Also, strategically identify and maintain memberships throughout region via individual team member participation.
  • Recognize growth and/or cost efficiency opportunities and build an effective business case to support capitalizing on such opportunities.
  • Earn Customer Loyalty ensuring proper procedures/actions are in place to drive and continuously improve customer satisfaction. Analyze Target Account requirements and develop penetration plans to increase market share.
  • Coordinate regional marketing activities and spend for the region, including traditional and electronic and social media.
  • Drive the cost-effective execution of operations supporting the branches while assuring quality in all aspects of the operations.
  • Optimize rental fleet reliability, utilization, and profitability. Effectively support other region(s) to best utilize rental fleet.
  • Drive product improvements and the development of new rental solutions.
  • Develop operational metrics that provide insight into the efficiency of operations and guide continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce all categories of operational expenses within responsible functions.
  • Drive branch facility expansion efforts from an operational standpoint in conjunction with our organic growth strategy.
  • Forecasting and creating of monthly / annual budgets. Including opportunity and account management process.
  • Drive safety for the region and assure that all aspects of the company safety policies and practices are implemented at all business locations and in the field.
  • Assure that the company performance management system is effectively implemented and managed within the businesses, driving continuous improvement through company performance management and personal development processes.
  • Participate with company senior management as well as our owners in formulating business strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of equivalent field experience required. Engineering, Technical, Marketing or Business.
  • Individual should have 5+ years of management experience, preferably within the Specialty rental business. Specific heating, cooling and power equipment knowledge is also desired.
  • Fundamental background and knowledge of ERP, CRM, and business systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with proven track record of motivating and mentoring teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of growth.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • A strategic business mindset and data-driven analysis will be needed to determine which customers and strategies have the greatest return for the business.
  • Experience with business financials, market segmentation, customer requirements, and ongoing trends.
  • Individual should have personal experience and a detailed understanding of the construction contracting, engineering and direct selling processes. Additional vertical market experience desired in Healthcare, Higher-Ed, Industrial / Manufacturing and CRE.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time but will vary as necessary.
