Job description

SUMMARY

THIS POSITION IS FULLY REMOTE, HOWEVER WITH PREFERRED LOCATIONS, CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON, OREGON, ARIZONA, AND COLORADO.

Responsible for growing transformational sales volume, profits, and market penetration by selling to new and current Food Service customers, distributors, and broadliners within the assigned geographical region. Plan and achieve sales goals by effectively selling product and service offerings and managing accounts through long-term successful relationships.

· Achieve and exceed continuously improving profitable growth by leading and managing the region’s sales strategy while aligning decisions with Strauss’ overall strategic plans.

· Grow profitable sales in the region’s Food Service and institutional channels and distributors using solid knowledge of Strauss products, quality, and service. Sell Strauss’ premium products and services at expected prices and margins.

· Source prospects, develop new accounts, expand into new channels, and increase account penetration by strengthening exemplary business partnerships and customer satisfaction with each Food Service Account and distributor decision-makers.

· Develop and leverage a strong working understanding of each customer’s strategy, organization, menu and decision-making process to implement and expand win-win customer solutions that drive profitable growth.

· Prepare and routinely evaluate monthly, quarterly and annual sales projections by account. Provide accurate product, pricing and volume data, identifying and executing growth opportunities and the financial results expected.

· Implement timely contingency plans to adapt quickly and achieve the profitability expectations. Communicate opportunities and concerns to management timely.

· Provide reliable, updated demand planning related information.

· Drive brand awareness by actively promoting the company, products, and services. Serve as the “Brand Ambassador” for the entire region and beyond as requested.

· Increase revenue by identifying and selling new profitable product introductions within Strauss’ capability.

· Build and achieve market-leadership of all Strauss’ proteins in the region. Recommend and sell products and programs that keep Strauss ahead of consumer and customer trends.

· Provide timely market feedback internally to support successful product development, merchandising, and pricing of product and programs.

· Prepare and present presentations on products, promotions, etc. to key decision makers and management at accounts.

· Support budget planning process by identifying anticipated sales income and expenses for the region’s accounts.

· Collaborate with Finance and Operations to ensure capability and mutual agreement on profitability of proposed programs and product offerings. Manage the price quote process for proposed sales.

· Complete required sales administration for accounts, or delegate appropriate administration and follow-up to Strauss’ internal support team.

· Attend trade shows, conferences and other industry related events that may build relationships and identify new sales, market and product opportunities.

· Stay updated on competitive products.

· Provide or assist with training Strauss sales representatives and sales support team as needed.

· Work from home productively. Travel frequently.

· Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Meat or Animal Science or other Agricultural Degree, or in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field, plus 5 years of proven success selling animal proteins into foodservice. Premium products and beef sales experience ideal.

· Highly ethical and transparent about all business matters.

· Solid knowledge of the food industry and experience with national and regional distribution networks and broadliners. Has established, customer decision-making relationships that expedite successful sales growth.

· Able to source, sell through profitably, close timely, and build new profitable business, open new categories of business, and effectively manage established customer networks. Excellent knowledge and use of sales techniques and best practices.

· Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to correctly apply facts and concepts during professional conversations. Uses well-thought through judgment in decision making to confidently drive timely results.

· Growth, goal and metric oriented. Ability to apply strong and accurate analytics to assess, steer, and report on the region’s KPI’s and continuously grow profitable accounts across the region.

· Blends visionary and planning abilities for the region with hands-on actions that deliver timely success.

· Comfortable applying measured risk and creativity to meet objectives.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop, maintain, and manage complex business relationships at all organizational levels to deliver profitable growth.

· Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Bilingual a plus.

· Tenacious, competitively driven self-starter with the entrepreneurial passion to achieve success while working effectively with others. Commands a persuasive, positive presence in meetings or group setting.

· Approachable, collaborative and an effective team player.

· Well-organized time management and follow-up skills to manage multiple competing demands.

· Highly proficient with office-technology (computers, phones, MS applications). Able to delegate administrative work effectively when appropriate.

· Open to learn, improve, and broaden professional skills.

· Highly focused and effective working from home/remotely.

· Cooperatively willing to support national accounts assigned to others within assigned region.

· Travel 50%.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
