Initiative Goal(s):The purpose of the Van Buren Youth Initiative is to increase protective factors for youth by facilitating and supervising the development of ongoing after school programming accessibleto Middle & High School aged youth in Van Buren County.
The focus of the Youth Initiative will be the delivery of programming that fosters connections with peers, mentors and the community. This position is currently funded by a three year grant; however, there is a focus on sustainability beyond the grant timeframe. Minimum Qualifications: Education:Bachelor or Associate degree in social services, education, human development, fine arts or a related field.
Work Experience:Experience working with Middle/High School aged youth in the arts, and/or mental health. Experience working in a non-profit organization and/or after school programming. Skills:Exceptional communication and interpersonal skillsEffectively hire and supervise program staffAbility and willingness to consistently engage youth in organizations providing arts programmingOrganizational skills with the ability to manage self-schedulingAbility to follow grant requirements, manage fiscal appropriations and facilitate advisory board function.
Essential Job Functions:Orchestrate and administer the overall operations of the Youth Initiative to ensure high levels of participation from middle and high school youthCoordinate the programs, instruction and activities delivered by the Youth InitiativeCollaborate with key stakeholders in the community to develop a sustainable system for the delivery of services offered by the Youth InitiativeForm strong relationships with staff, youth, volunteers and other constituents in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Youth InitiativeDevelop a plan outlining how fiscal resources will be distributed to ensure the mission and goals of the Youth Initiative are metFollow guidelines and parameters set by the VB Youth Initiative advisory boardTrack and report identified outcomes such as attendance, offerings and participationMonitor and regulate expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary goalsUtilize marketing and communication tools such as social media to encourage regular participation in the Youth InitiativeAttend mandatory staff and advisory board meetings on a periodic basisHire, supervise and support staff designed to deliver the curriculumPerform additional tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned by VBISD and/or the VB Youth Initiative advisory board Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
