Selah House Indiana is the only licensed inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization program (PHP) eating disorder treatment center in the state of Indiana.
Position Summary
Recovery Care Specialist & Alumni Coordinator is a passionate professional who has responsibility to work with clients with peer support mentoring & National Director of Alumni Services in leading virtual support, planning, executing various support groups, and events in a manner that creates extraordinary experiences for all Families whose who have been treated. This position interacts with others as a professional and collaborative team member to ensure that the facility’s priorities are achieved with consistent excellence and precision. The Recovery Care Specialist promotes clients’ involvement in the treatment program. Recovery Care Specialists assist clients in various clinical, nutritional and administrative activities as directed, to ensure optimal client outcome.

Within the organization: Initiates and maintains frequent and close working relationships with the other members of the clinical, admissions, outreach teams, facility leadership, and peers at Selah House. They will interact regularly and should feel comfortable presenting and discussing data-driven information in story form that supports the impact of existing efforts or key action items with Alumni Relations Manager and executive team at Selah House.
Outside the organization: Initiates and connects with all Selah House Clients & Alumni Families. Family Relations Coordinator will support and build on our partnerships with our admission, marketing, clinical, and business development members.
Position Responsibilities
This role’s responsibilities are focused around five key areas, along with other duties as assigned, that fall underneath the following overall scope of this position:
Execute professionally and compassionately Selah House strategic plans, initiatives, and tactics. Effectively partner with Alumni Relations Manager, and Selah House clinical, outreach, and admission teams in development and execution to achieve specified goals of building a robust alumni community.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assists the daily milieu at Selah House Treatment Center, assisting with program activities, observations, charting progress/improvement/decline, etc.
- Educates and support all clients and families with peer support counseling/techniques.
- Attends and/or leads peer support groups at RTC level of care.
- Develop a Family Alumni association, coordinate with Alumni Relations manager, and implement all alumni events and activities when appropriate at a quarterly and yearly level.
- Report findings monthly summarizing all discharge/exit interviews, follow up activity, and assist clients and families in setting up discharge referrals, dates, and times given from Selah House Clinical Team.
- Consistently maintains the privacy and confidentiality requirements and regulations.
- Becomes familiar with the histories and needs of clients and identifies cues and behaviors that may indicate a change in the client’s status.
- Under the direction of the Lead Recovery Care Specialist provides appropriate emotional support to clients.
- Spends one on one time with clients during scheduled activities and leisure time.
- Communicates pertinent patient information to the Clinical Program Manager as well as to the treatment team, as appropriate.
- Responsible for maintaining proper and timely documentation regarding client’s progress. Alerts management and Therapists of client concerns or problems.
- Day and evening shift Recovery Care Specialist are required to eat meals with the clients, providing role modeling healthy food and body image behaviors.
- Observes client behavior during and after meals.
- Assists in various nutritional activities including but not limited to, meal preparation, grocery shopping, meal outings, supervision of exercise and other activities assigned by the clinical staff and/or the Dietitian.
- Demonstrates proper food safety and handling standards when preparing/serving meals to the clients.
- Assist with housekeeping duties, including cleaning of facilities (i.e. taking out trash, loading and unloading dishwasher, laundry, running errands and other duties as assigned).
- Assist with tours for clients, family members, students, visitors and interested parties as requested.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Selah House Mission and population.
- Transport residents to appointments, supporting resident while regulating in community. Must have valid driver’s license.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in the mental health field. Experience with eating disorders is strongly preferred. Minimum two to three years working in a customer service environment with multi-tasking priorities.
Other Requirements
Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
