Summary
The Receiving Clerk position involves various responsibilities related to receiving and handling incoming shipments. The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong physical ability to lift heavy objects, operate material handling equipment, and possess several years of warehouse experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive incoming shipments of goods, materials, or products.
• Inspect and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders and shipping documents.
• Report and document any discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
Material Handling:
• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift, manual pallet jack, and electric pallet jack to move and transport materials within the warehouse.
• Stack and organize received items in designated storage areas.
• Ensure the proper handling and storage of fragile or sensitive items.
Inventory Management:
• Maintain accurate records of received shipments, including quantities, item descriptions, and storage locations.
• Assist in periodic physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
Communication:
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to resolve discrepancies in orders or shipments.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate receiving activities.
Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment.
• Comply with all relevant regulations and company policies.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
• Maintain accurate and organized receiving records, including invoices, packing slips, and receipts.
Qualifications:
• Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts, manual pallet jacks, and electric pallet jacks.
• 3-5 years of previous warehouse experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles.
Essential Job Functions:
- Stand, move, bend, walking at a fast pace for up 8 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to discern written and oral instructions and communication.
