Your role at Clorox:
We are looking for an R&D Scientist II to support the Fresh Step and Scoop Away cat litter brands.
As a Product / Process Development Scientist II in Clorox's Care & Connection Division, you will be part of a high performing team, driving your projects, which will range from the creation of new and innovative products for discovery programs to developing new/improved products through the commercialization process for both growth and cost savings initiatives.
In this role, you will:
As a Product / ProcessScientist II you will be part of a team responsible for the discovery, design, development, and scale-up of new technologies and products from concept through to launch.
You will work in teams to develop products in close partnership with Process and Packaging peers, as well as Marketing, Sales, Product Supply and Regulatory.
In addition, you will work with our plants/co-packers to set appropriate specifications that connect to our consumer needs.
You will support projects from tech discovery to project charter to start of ship, as well as be accountable for the post-launch product and process performance issues.
To achieve your goals, you will:
- Serve as Product / Process Development Lead for projects to ensure technical rigor of all project deliverables.
- Create scaled prototypes to bring product solutions to life and test with consumers.
- Build a deep understanding of technical test methods, their strengths, and limitations and how to use them for robust claim substantiation.
- Design and execute technical testing to converge on and validate product/formulation design and performance. Including developing new test methods with support when necessary
- Determine and own the Process acceptable specification ranges and implement test methods to ensure product specification requirements are met. Recommend a process control scheme by completing appropriate process development studies such as lot/limit studies, scale up studies, leveraging modeling and simulation.
- Lead project technical risk assessment to right-size development work plans and focus resources on technical pinch points.
- Work closely with current and potential suppliers to identify and develop innovative solutions to meet objectives presented in projects.
- Design, validate and execute robust visualization of product performance (e.g. demos) to amplify initiatives.
- Lead the design and execution of the test plan to provide claims substantiation.
- Apply fundamental technical and processing knowledge from inside and outside sources to achieve project results within and across business units.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and engineering teams to ensure consistent communication, successful start-ups, define any new capital requirement, influence future capabilities, and identify internal and external process improvements that deliver cost and/or efficiency savings.
- Lead process plant trials at manufacturing facilities.
What we look for:
- Minimum of 2 years experience, preferably in consumer products with a focus on Product, Package and/or Process Development.
- High energy, positive drive and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals and enjoy working in a variety of cultures and settings.
- Ability to work independently and implement multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment, both internal and external to Clorox.
- Strong technical curiosity and creative problem-solving skills, sound technical judgement, and hands-on focus
- Ability to identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience with Solids is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Science or Engineering required

-Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900
-Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400
-Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900
