Your role at Clorox:
The Strategic Cleaning Innovation R&D team is seeking a consumer-obsessed packaging developer to join our agile group of scientists. We are looking for someone with innovation packaging experience to research, develop and recommend differentiated, novel package solutions for current and new product formulas. You will be part of a high performing team, driving your projects, which will range from the creation of new and innovative products for discovery programs to developing new/improved products through the commercialization process for both growth and cost savings initiatives. In this role, you will bring new ideas and innovation to our products and packaging, delivering against the broader Clorox sustainability commitments and vision. We are looking for a technical expert at the Senior Scientist level to join our dedicated group to advance our purpose-driven brand.
In this role, you will:

  • Provide a technical Packaging voice for new platforms to Clorox - identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools and processes. Be an expert at bringing both divergent and convergent thinking to the product design process.
  • Create a sustainable competitive advantage for Clorox through having an external lens, prioritizing robust knowledge management, and elevating internal technical/testing capabilities.
  • Bring a diverse set of expertise in all areas of Cleaning packaging, particularly blow molding, injection molding, sprays & dispensing technologies, Child Resistant Packaging (CRP), along with paperboard/corrugate retail and ecom packaging (including development and testing of ships-in-own-container packaging), and flexible packaging.
  • Independently drive packaging-focused projects, partnering with subject matter experts, cross-functional partners and project managers, while contributing to other projects with an enterprise perspective and technical thought leadership.
  • Bring technical leadership in Packaging Modeling and Simulation tools to enable best in class packaging design: FEA, CFD, FSI, among others.
  • Create and implement a multiyear sustainability plan that meets corporate goals.
  • Represent and articulate the Pros/Cons of packaging sustainability impacts including the use of LCA's, GHG emissions, Recyclability assessments, and others.
  • Work through manufacturing partners to understand local supply limitations and recommend improvements while maintaining consumer experience.

What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
  • Minimum 5 years as a packaging developer in consumer product goods companies or applicable field; experience with injection molding and developing packaging for EPA-registered disinfecting products and packaging preferred
  • Be able to exhibit strong leadership, critical thinking, technical, communication and teamwork skills
  • Have a deep understanding of package technologies and connect tech to consumer and customer experience and visualization to amplify initiatives
  • Strategic vision with ability to propose, analyze, and articulate short, medium and long-term scenarios for business opportunities

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
-Zone A: $104,100 - $199,100
-Zone B: $95,500 - $183,300
-Zone C: $86,800 - $166,600

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox's incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
