R&D Food Technology Specialist

Hello! We are looking for a dedicated Food Technology Specialistto join the team! Del Real Foods is a traditional Mexican food manufacturer born out of a family farm. Today, Del Real Food makes tamales, carnitas, salsas, and other recipes inspired by the Cardenas' native Jalisco -- all created by hand with fresh ingredients and nothing artificial.

Assist in the creation of new products from development through commercialization. This position performs standardized qualitative and quantitative tests to determine physical or chemical properties of food or beverage products. Studies methods to improve quality of foods, such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist on the development of new recipes with our existing items.
• Assist in making adjustments to formula for product manufacturing at the pilot plant level or initial production runs for achievement of all target objectives.
• Support R & D department by identifying any opportunity of product and/or process improvement.
• Record and compile test results, and prepare graphs, charts, and reports.
• Support production test runs
• Support developing processing procedures.
• Assist in sensory evaluation and testing of new products under development.
• Evaluates product ingredients and formulation; develops suggestions for new products or improvements to existing products.
• Supervises test runs of new/changed products and evaluates quality, presentation, and taste.
• Assist in cuttings in lab to test new and improved products in comparison with competitor products.
• Assist R & D Manager with day-to-day tasks
• Organize and clean lab as required.
• Assist with shipping samples or ingredients.

Requirements and Duties:

• Must have strong knowledge of consumer marketplace including food trends.
• Must have excellent professional Food Technology skills, ability to work under tight deadlines and be able to multitask.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Spanish is a plus).
• Travel is required for specific projects and or assignments.
