Radiology Order Analyst

Responsible for obtaining the procedure or exam order, confirms the medical imaging exam meets medical necessity and the scheduled exam matches the order. Performs all functions of the radiology scheduling representative.

• Utilizes manuals and software to determine medical necessity of exams.
• Has good communication skills with coworkers and physician office staff.
• Assigns correct CPT code or confirms existing code on order.
• Processes the orders in a timely manner and then sends them to the preauthorization department after all coding has been completed.
• Contacts the appropriate technologist or radiologist for any orders that do not follow the procedures the radiologists have established as routine for this department.
• Answers Radiology telephones.

• Previous experience in Hospital preauthorization preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Training and Experience: typing, filing skills, and computer knowledge required.
• Job Knowledge: ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, physician office personnel, and department personnel.
• Able to work with frequent interruptions.
• Must maintain professionalism toward patients and personnel at all times even during stressful situations.
