SGNL Communications is looking to hire a Field Service Technician/field engineer. Your role as Service Technician/ field engineer would be to provide technology solutions and services to our customers. Our customer base includes first responders, municipalities, manufacturing, non-profits and many other organizations. Individuals who are applying should be team-oriented and communicate effectively with others. Excellent customer service skills with the willingness to provide top class support are a must.
SGNL Communications is a small business operating out of Waterbury, CT. We provide sales and service of two-way communication solutions to government agencies and business enterprises throughout Connecticut and New England. Our company provides a wide range of products and services. Service Technicians/Field Engineers configure, install, repair, and service communications equipment at SGNL’s Waterbury garage and at customers’ locations.
This position requires basic electronics and computer/IT training and/or experience. Applicant must be familiar with basic electronics concepts and electronic theory. Trade school or certification program diploma or AS degree in electronics, electronic engineering or equivalent work experience preferred. Basic math skills to support working equations used for electronics theory. Ability to lift and carry 60 to 75 pounds of equipment or test equipment on flat surfaces and up stairs
Duties and Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
- Diagnosis, repair and preventive maintenance of electronic equipment, including RF, control and IT equipment at customer sites and in our location.
- Provide demos and training for operations and feature of equipment to customers
- Deliver equipment and materials to customers locations
- Install and repair electronic equipment in vehicles, at service center and at customer locations
- Assist with the design of new systems
- Complete and process inventory
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems or escalate problems in a timely manner while following consistent standards and approaches
- Document all work
- Be a self-starter and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Candidates must have a diverse skill set that will allow them to think on their feet in a variety of situations
- Have the ability to relate well to customers and co-workers and to explain technical information in basic, understandable terms
- Maintain a valid Connecticut driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Maintain dependable, personal transportation
- Ability to pass company's and customer's background checks
- Ability to pass physical, drug test and proficiency tests
- Ability to travel out of state for training on occasion
- Experience with or as a public safety end user or first responder is beneficial
- Knowledge of basic electronic theory. Be familiar with basic electronic concepts: AC/DC Voltage and current relationship, resistance including color code, Capacitance, Inductance, Voice/RF modulation/demodulation
- Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis
