Job Summary:
Develops, interprets, and implements quality policies, manages quality systems, and facilitates compliance. The Quality Manager is responsible for providing support to ensure product is manufactured to the required regulations, standards, and specifications (AS9100); primary customer contact on all quality related queries (e.g. compliance audits & follow up), customer complaints, and quality requirements in customer contracts and agreements. Works in close collaboration and partnership with other departments and functions, to optimize overall operational efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining & developing a best-in-class quality system.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ownership of the quality management system (QMS)
- Direct the work of the quality team & provide goal setting, development, and mentoring opportunities.
- Ensure compliance to AS9100 standard.
- Ensure documentation reflects current processes.
- Internal audit of QMS to the full AS9100 standard
- Advise management on best practices that will enrich and strengthen development and manufacturing processes.
- Partner with IRAD and engineering teams to ensure quality at the source, design for manufacturing/quality, customer requirements, and transition to operations.
- Develop goals, metrics, and KPIs to show the health of the organization.
- Will be primary regulatory agency and customer contact on all quality related queries for the site e.g. compliance audits & follow up, customer complaints, quality agreements, and technical agreements.
- Monthly reporting to senior leadership and board of directors
- Partner with functional leaders to ensure that program, the organization’s objectives and values are at the forefront of decision making and action.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to tailor a QMS to a small, agile company working in advanced manufacturing
- Understanding of how to tailor processes to Development vs. Prototype vs. Production
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Problem solving and continuous improvement principles
- Interpreting customer requirements and quality requirements
- Strong presentation skills
- Assertiveness and the ability to clearly communicate expectations, deadlines and priorities succinctly
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation
- Excellent data, analysis, trends, and reporting skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Education and Experience:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in quality engineering, engineering, or other related field
- At least 5-years' work-related experience
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
- AS9100 experience (preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Minimum of 2 years as a manager preferre

- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Ability to work independently, taking direction and creating policies and processes
