What is the Quality Manager role at Sur-Seal?
The Quality Manager develops, implements and manages the quality department to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals. Collaborates closely with leadership in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Administration.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
- Ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner to drive improvement.
- Manage and report plant quality metrics, respond to trends and correct as needed.
- Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality of finished products.
- Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams.
- Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
- Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within Company.
- Oversee inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
- Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
- Guide team as required to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
- Oversee the internal audit program and address nonconformities from previous internal/external audits.
- Insure compliance to established quality management system processes and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Education/Experience
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred; at least a Bachelor's in a related technical field, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in Quality, should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments and satisfying customers in developing manufacturing companies, and/or proven analytical/technical aptitude evidenced by 7 or more years of successful experience in quantitative role (i.e., Finance, Risk Management, Process Reengineering, Quality)
- Supervisory/management experience.
- Experience with developing/documenting procedures.
- Cross-functional business team environment experience

- Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.

- PC-based computing experience (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, presentation- PowerPoint, documentation s/w) essential.
