Job description

Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills, Michigan Office, this is a flexible Work From Home position, which means an associate has the flexibility to work from home, but is expected to report to the local office as needed or required.
Basic Purpose:
The Quality Management Systems Administrator, provides Quality Management System guidance, coaching, assessment, and facilitation to SEWS North America and assures continual improvement to SEWS QMS documentation and effectiveness. Working directly with SEWS Management and Associates under Corporate Quality leadership, this position supports SEWS Management System strategies and objectives, and provides and/or facilitates critical input to Management Review. As a Quality Management System subject matter expert, they are an internal coach and facilitator to all related functions, departments, divisions and locations under the SEWS certified QMS umbrella, including applicable MX mfg locations. This person supports process development and enhancement efforts that drive quality improvement, participates in and supports activities that continually assess and monitor compliance to SEWS QMS and applicable International Standard (IATF 16949), and works with management to develop strategies and facilitate actions (workshops, cross-functional team projects or other) to accurately document/amend processes that improve process efficiency, reduce errors and cost, and improve Quality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Promotes and maintains the standards issued by SEWS and SEWS Quality Assurance in alignment with SEWS values, objectives and quality targets.
  2. Plan and execute projects and team activities throughout SEWS US & Mexico to facilitate changes that have a measurable impact on business results, especially as it relates to meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  3. Provide technical expertise in process development and improvement projects affecting product realization, design, verification, validation and manufacturability involving Product Design, Sales, Purchasing, Test Laboratory, Manufacturing Support, Quality Assurance and other supporting departments.
  4. Develops, maintains and supports the maintenance and improvement of the SEWS Quality Management System, including administering the document management system and computer systems utilized.
  5. Schedule, Lead and Perform IATF Audits at Detroit and other SEWS North America locations, including pre-audit planning, audit execution, results evaluation and follow-up of post audit activities including administration of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CA/PA). Includes assisting teams with the development and implementation of countermeasures that improve ISO/IATF compliance and Quality results.
  6. Generate, monitor, and report performance metrics that reveal process improvement opportunities and effectiveness of driven improvement actions, and demonstrates status of projects.
  7. Lead/participate on teams that identify risks/hazards associated with product designs, processes and applications, apply lessons[1]reporting of vehicle performance trends, recognition of relevant-to-commodity event
  8. Compile and prepare training material and conduct training on improvement tools and methodologies. Lead or facilitate process improvement teams and events.
  9. Ensure applicability of current SEWS quality policies, procedures and objectives by keeping informed of the latest updates/ modifications related to ISO/IATF Quality Systems.
  10. Performs short range, tactical planning, and execution of actions required to deliver Quality Assurance strategies and objectives.
Position Requirements:                       
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Business or other relevant discipline, or 5-7 years progressive engineering or quality/management experience in an ISO-regulated industry.
  • Combination of experience and/or training in Quality Management Systems that includes process administration and auditing totaling five years.
  • Certification as an IATF auditor, or demonstrated ability to achieve certification is required within the first six months.
  • Exceptional organization and project execution skills and the ability to work effectively across all functions and levels of the organization, including Top Management of all divisions across US and Mexico.
  • Reasoning and analytical skills for business problem identification and resolutions.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, analyze, plan, organize and effectively lead groups to action.
  • Ability to apply quality principles in operational & technical/administrative environments.
  • Must be able to lead and work effectively in a team environment and across complex functional and diverse cultural lines.
  • Able to effectively communicate detailed, technical initiatives to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Proficient in standard MS office PC/software applications and user knowledge of advanced collaboration technologies (i.e. Teams, Smartsheet, SharePoint & similar)
  • Able to travel domestic and international.
  • Bilingual (English - Spanish) to facilitate guidance and audit performance in SEWS Mexico facilities is preferred.
  • Quality-related certifications (ASQ, IATF, Six Sigma, LEAN) are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated Quality Management System audit leadership and conduct experience (ISO/TS/IATF, CQI, etc.) in a primarily technical/administrative environment is strongly preferred.
