Job Description
Summary
Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on incoming and manufactured products during all stages of production and completes final inspections before shipment. This position will ensure that products meet Steele Solution’s standards, engineering and customer quality expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the inspection of products at various stages of production to ensure all shop floor quality checks are complete;
- Prepare for internal and vendor audits and ensuring all related audit paperwork is complete;
- Ensure all in-process inspection documentation is signed and in order and input information into the QC software;
- Practice root cause analysis and discuss the quality issues with the production leaders to minimize and/or resolve issues timely;
- Responsible to preparing and analyzing incident reports;
- Participates in quality related training programs;
- Occasionally travel to vendors and company facilities to perform in process inspections;
- Comply with all safety regulations;
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in steel fabrication or relevant industry
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality role, or oversight of quality functions preferred
- Previous experience in an ISO quality system preferred
- Understanding of quality systems and processes, to include root cause analysis
- Ability to identify process issues and offer solutions
- Ability to work in a cross-function team environment
- Ability to cross shifts to ensure common practice
- Ability to complete Qualification to SSI – NDT – Level I course and test
- Ability to travel to other Wisconsin and Ohio locations to knowledge sharing and coverage
Education
- High school degree or equivalent is required; post high school education or a technical degree or certificate is preferred

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing environment. PPE is required while working in the plant.
