Job Description
Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector
Summary:
Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of product to ensure compliance with contract specifications by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interprets visual and documented standards such as engineering drawings, schematic drawings, blueprints, and sample. Confers with management or staff to determine quality and reliability standards. Insures parts conform during all phases of the manufacturing process.
- Selects product for tests at specified stages in the production process. Inspects and tests product to determine compliance with order specifications, such as dimensions, performance, tolerance, and mechanical characteristics. Reviews deviations and investigates for acceptability.
- Completes first article inspection (in quality inspection or production area) using appropriate inspection and quality control tests and completes appropriate paperwork. Enters into computer.
- Performs random quality control tests during production. Stops production during any phase of manufacturing if found to be nonconforming.
- Completes final inspection. Complete appropriate paperwork by recording test data in computer.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Enters appropriate inspection results into computer or process control charts.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.
- Marks approval or rejection of product.
Computer Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge/proficiency. Prior use of Excel and/or Word software helpful. Keyboarding 25 wpm.
- Knowledge of or prior use of quality software programs (such as Quattro Pro, SQC Pack, UTM Pack, and/or Spring Design) helpful.
Other Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or ability to learn to use tools such as micrometer, calipers, spring tester and optical comparator.
- Ability to meet deadlines but be thorough and accurate.
- Ability work with little supervision/independently but still be a member of a team.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
