The Quality Engineer is responsible for improving and assuring quality within the facility through implementation of and adherence to the Quality Management System. The position provides ongoing daily support to the manufacturing floor while maintaining and improving quality systems and procedures.
- Identifies, evaluates and implements corrective actions necessary to resolve quality issues in the plant.
- Coordinates and participates in 8D problem solving teams and facilitates other teams identification of root causes.
- Ensures implementation and follow-through of permanent corrective action.
- Identifies/ leads improvement opportunities and consults with plant management on alternatives for improving operation efficiency/effectiveness and product quality.
- Works closely with customers to resolve quality concerns, ensuring positive customer relations. Responsible for authorizing customer returns and making decisions involving issuance of credit.
- Participates in new product development projects with the goal of improving quality and processing capability before actual product launch.
- Performs, organizes, and reports all elements of PPAP testing and documentation and provides to customer as needed. Monitors data collection at critical operations and ensures appropriate use of data collected. Provides internal/external statistical reports as needed.
- Responsible for ISO and IATF certifications documentation, oversees procedure updates and ensures accurate records.
- Educates and instructs plant personnel in quality assurance procedures and ensures adherence through an extensive audit program.
- Ensures operation of all laser measuring and data collection equipment through calibration/preventive maintenance program and in-house repair/replacement. Able to perform all lab functions as back-up for lab technician.
- Participates with and provides support to various cross-functional teams.
- Communicates with co-workers, management, internal and external customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5 years Quality Engineering experience/10 years manufacturing experience and planning to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field
- Three years of experience in Quality in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of international quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), lean manufacturing, statistical methods, engineering drawing reading and continuous improvement tools such as FMEA, DOE.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship both now and in the future.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office required, knowledge of MRP/ERP systems like MFGPro or SAP.
Preferred qualifications
- ASQ certifications preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification desired

- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, Quality Management System standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Design Of Experiments, and Statistical Process Control.
- Proven project management, planning, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Flexibility to perform non-standard tasks such as sorting and rework as needed
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs on rare occasions
- Must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment (dust, noise, etc.)
