Job Description
The Quality Engineer has a wide array of responsibilities at ARCH Cutting Tools- Orchard Park which include the following.
- Analyze and monitor scrap causes, quantities, and sources and lead efforts to resolve them
- Process customer returns and execute effective corrective actions
- Maintain company certification to ISO 9001:2015
- Conduct internal audits
- Maintain gage calibrations
- Maintain company documentation control
- Drive efforts toward continuous improvement
- Lead effective weekly quality system steering committee meetings
- Presenting data, results, and progress in monthly plant wide employee meetings
- Support production with troubleshooting and problem solving
- Produce technical documentation including reports, work instructions, and needed forms
- Use statistical tools to monitor and improve processes
- Participate in training of operators on improvement initiatives
- Programming and use of complex inspection equipment
Job Requirements
In addition to a background in quality assurance, this job requires great flexibility in job function. Responsibilities range from daily mundane tasks to leading an affective team and reporting before top management. Applicants meeting the following job requirements are encouraged to apply:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering with an emphasis in quality assurance (or commensurate experience)
- 3+ years in precision manufacturing
- Three (3) years’ minimum experience in a quality related position.
- Experience with tight tolerance measuring equipment
- Working understanding of SPC / Six Sigma / process capability tools
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to read and interpret drawing/blueprints/schematics
- Ability to program complex inspection equipment
- Proficiency in standard office and database programs/equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- Training in and/or experience with CADD / Solid Modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
- Operator or other experience in a manufacturing environment (especially machining)
Desirable Qualifications
The following qualifications would be helpful, but are not necessarily required.
- ISO internal auditor training
- Six Sigma / Lean certificate (Green belt / Black belt)
- Experience in CNC machining, particularly grinding
