Quality Control Technician - Direct Hire - $28-30/HR
Summary/Objective
The Quality Control Technician II is responsible for monitoring the overall process to assure that product exiting the process is correct. Monitoring includes mechanical and visual inspection of precision parts for dimensional and visual compliance to established procedures.
Essential Functions
- Applies advanced knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles to program CMM’s/vision systems to ensure products meet specifications and drawings.
- Train and resolve issues and questions from the machine operators, Quality and Manufacturing Engineers as needed.
- Work with Quality Engineering to ensure that all set-ups and programs are accurate.
- Work with Quality Engineers on special projects related to tooling fixtures and gages.
- Identifies and drives cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
- Works closely with the team to determine efficiency improvements.
- Create CMM programs using part drawings or models
- Troubleshoot and/or amend existing CMM programs
- Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures and other measurement tools.
Competencies
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection.
- Machine shop process knowledge; turning, milling.
- Experience with CMM (programming skills preferred, such as Mitutoyo MCOSMOS)
- Knowledge of the gear manufacturing processes of shaping, hobbing and shot peening and cleaning helpful.
- Knowledge of crimping and soldering termination inspection is helpful.
- Programming CMM from 3D solid models is helpful
- Knowledge of ERP systems
- Working knowledge of GD&T (read and interpret)
- Mechanical Inspection of precision part
- Must be able to multi-task without losing track of details
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office)

- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work
- Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications
- Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to squat or kneel occasionally
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, hourly position and operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- Advanced knowledge on all metrology programs,
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- 6 years of experience with inspection equipment
- 4 years minimum experience advanced CMM programming
- 4 years minimum experience advanced Vision System programming
