Job description

North Slope Telecom, Inc. (NSTI), specializes in telecom solutions for customers in the oil and gas industry and rural communities in Alaska. We are currently seeking a dedicated Quality Control Specialist to assist in the development and maintenance of our companywide Quality Management System (QMS). This role will involve inspecting products, ensuring compliance with both company and legal standards. This role will monitor, inspect, and propose measures to correct or improve a company's final products and processes to meet established quality standards. Also, this position entails collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization, and excellent interpersonal skills are crucial. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with peers, superiors, and industry professionals who have competing priorities. Meeting deadlines and driving the organization to deliver on commitments is paramount. The main responsibilities of the Quality Control Specialist will include providing quality assurance (QA) support to an assigned team. *This a rotational positional at a remote location, 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. As well as a commitment of at least 24 months of employment, followed by the possibility of permanent employment. Benefits are included.*


Salary starting out at $32.00 DOE

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred
  • Quality management certifications a plus
  • Experience in the telecom, electrical, or oil and gas industries preferred.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a QMS or other management system preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of NSTI’s quality management system.
  • Assists in developing, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining total quality management processes.
  • Works closely with the development team to improve existing products.
  • Develops quality assurance standards and company processes.
  • Works intra- and inter- departmentally to align processes and procedures.
  • Creates project-specific quality management plans that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Documents internal audits and other quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities and audits in timely manner.
  • Executes quality improvement activities.
  • Coordinates with engineers and/or field technicians and monitors in-field tests and inspections as needed.
  • Collects and compiles statistical quality data and analyzes data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with strict adherence to ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and familiarity with industry-related standards and best practices
  • Adheres to industry quality and safety standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
