Uxo Technician - Quality Control Specialist (Uxoqcs)

Overview

Tanaq Construction, LLC (TCL) is an Alaskan-village owned small business, certified under the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) program. TCL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of St. George Tanaq Corporation. TCL provides a variety of construction and environmental construction services. As prime contractors, we provide project management services for design-build and bid-build horizontal and interior repair/renovation projects. We have in-house tradesmen to self-perform rebar, drywall, paint, site work, excavation and landscaping.

Position Summary

Tanaq is seeking an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technician Quality Control Specialist (QCS) for a project that provides Munitions Response support at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, California. This position is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and, on approval, implement the project’s Quality Control (QC) plan for MEC-related activities in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Conduct and document QC audits of MEC-related activities for compliance with applicable requirements.
• Identify, document, report, and ensure completion of corrective actions to ensure MEC-related activities are conducted in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Ensure compliance with DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans.
• Prepare QC reports.
• Analyze the potential risks (e.g., operational, explosives safety, general safety) associated with MEC-related activities and develop and implement required mitigating measures.
• Establish and ensure compliance with site-specific explosives safety requirements, including enforcing personnel limits and explosives safety quantity distance (ESQD) arcs for explosive-related operations.
• Evaluate the risk of movement (e.g., consolidation) of MEC within an MRS or on an operational range with the SUXOS and provide approval for movement when the risk of movement is determined to be acceptable.

Qualifications and Experience

• Ability to travel extensively to client sites and/or project locations nationwide as part of essential duties.
• Candidate must have valid driver’s license in good standing, HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and background check.
• Ability to obtain a DOJ-ATFE Employee Possessors clearance.
• Must be fluent in the English language – writing and speaking.

Education and Training

• Must meet Qualified Personnel requirements as outlined in Dept. of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) TP-18.
• Minimum high-school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
• EOD graduates: must have at least 10 years combined MEC or Commercial UXO experience, with 1 years of MEC-Supervisory Experience.
• UXO graduates: must have at least 13 years combined MEC or commercial UXO experience, with 3 years of MEC-Supervisory experience.
• Certificate of Completion from a qualified UXO training course of instruction, OR graduate of military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school; PLUS minimum 8 years prior military EOD and/or commercial UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities
• Must have completed a 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training and earned a Department of Labor Construction Safety Course Completion Card.
• Must have OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and current 8-hour annual HAZWOPER refresher.
• Must have 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor certificate.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion and to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods of time over rough terrain and while carrying field equipment.
• While performing duties, will often be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, moisture, dusty, and/or noisy conditions.
• May enter areas containing toxic chemicals or chemical munitions or be exposed to moving machinery and/or mechanical parts.

SCA Pay Rate: $50 per hour
