Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Control Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all printed materials meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. They will work closely with the printing press operators, ink room technicians, and other members of the production team to maintain consistency and excellence in our printing, cup forming, straw manufacturing, and solid napkin processes. The Quality Control Specialist will perform visual inspections, conduct measurements, and implement Quality Control procedures to identify and resolve any issues or defects in the printed products.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Conduct thorough visual inspections of printed materials to ensure they meet the established quality standards, including color accuracy, print clarity, and overall appearance, as well as solid materials for bleed and bonding between plies.
• Use specialized tools and equipment to measure and verify dimensions, print registration, color density, and other critical printing parameters.
• Monitor and analyze printed samples at different stages of the printing process, such as during setup, production runs, and finishing.
• Verify the presence and centering of embossing on napkins, unless otherwise specified.
• Check that label placement on packages, bags, and cartons aligns with the specified requirements.
• Compare the printed product against the matching sample standards and the approved start-up run standard for color accuracy.
• Inspect the neatness of the stack and sealed packages, ensuring proper fusion of all seals.
• Ensure that the designated carton and bag (if necessary) specified for the order are being used.
• Verify that all labels used are the correct size and contain the appropriate information specified for the job.
• Check the pallet to ensure the proper pallet type, including heat-treated pallets (HT), is being used as required by the order.
• Confirm that the amount of product on each layer and the overall pallet matches the quantity specified in the Casco product recording system.
• Perform bleed tests on all Target products during press runs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of Quality Control checks, test results, and deviations from established standards.
• Collaborate with printing press operators, prepress technicians, and other relevant personnel to resolve quality-related issues and implement necessary corrective actions.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in printing Quality Control.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
• Verify that the package count matches the specified quantity for the item.
• Verify that the quantities recorded by the production operators align with the quantities produced and documented.

• A solid understanding of various printing processes, techniques, and equipment is necessary to effectively evaluate print quality and identify any deviations from standards.
• Familiarity with color management systems, color matching, and color correction techniques is important for ensuring accurate and consistent color reproduction in printed materials.
• Proficiency in using measurement tools such as densitometers, spectrophotometers, and micrometers is crucial for conducting accurate measurements and verifying print parameters.
• Excellent problem-solving skills are required to identify the root cause of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions to resolve them.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to effectively collaborate with printing press operators, prepress technicians, and other team members.
• Adherence to safety regulations and the promotion of a safe working environment is crucial
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in printing technology or Quality Control is a plus.
• Proven experience in printing press operations or Quality Control within the printing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of various printing processes, techniques, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Quality Control methodologies, statistical process control, and ISO quality
