POSITION SUMMARY: Skilled position responsible for ensuring the highest degree of product quality is achieved via current manufacturing processes. Fit up, Layout, Floor Inspector. This position will work with company-wide QA/QC team. Primary duties will include the dimensional checking of fit-up, weld symbols and a general compliance to the specified detail drawings as well as AWS specifications. NDT inspection methods using magnetic particle (MT), or dye penetrant (PT) according to applicable codes. Dimensional Inspector (requires advanced fit-up experience)
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Has overall responsibility for performing the dimensional checking of fit-up at the assigned plant.
- Ensure that the fabricated steel will fit as planned, meets customer specifications, and inspections are completed as required to support workflow and sequence.
- Reports and maintains inspection results. Prepares documentation required by the customer for certification that all quality procedures were followed.
- Performs in-process fit-up inspections on poles and structural steel weld assemblies.
- Monitoring, and executing activities related to ensuring that inspections of products are completed to the requirements of applicable specifications and codes.
- Reads new project specifications.
- Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced using, rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers, or NDT MT/PT methods.
- Accept or reject finished items
- Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
- Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products
- Report inspection and test data
- Interprets drawings, customer specifications and standards of moderate complexity.
- Identifying the receiving inspection
- Is responsible for assisting the Quality Control Manager in administering the AWS program at assigned plant. Ensures that ALL production-related employees understand and follow applicable AWS standards, and that the shop is prepared for an audit. Support the Quality Control Manager during audits.
- Works with other QA/QC inspectors to organize inspection work to be done on a daily and weekly basis.
- Assists in identifying and solving quality non-conformances in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Assists shop employees with questions and clarifications on QC issues as needed.
- Works with QA/QC team to ensure the Quality Control program designed to make sure continuous production of products consistent with established standards is implemented and being followed.
- Addresses quality issues related to non-conforming material or components, and obtain timely disposition in order to maintain production flow.
ATTRIBUTES:
· 3-5 years of experience in steel fabrication, preferably spent in an inspection role.
· Ability to read and an in-depth understanding of shop drawings.
· Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and D14.6 national codes.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement techniques desired.
· Maintain an attitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuous improvement, and an active contribution to the teamwork concepts.
· Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
· NDT Level II experienced in MT and PT methods

Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
· Manufacturing floor/shop and general office.
· Occasional travel may be required.
